The CTF derives its authority from the following federal statutes:
Digital Asset Market Protection Act (2024)
Establishes the CTF as an independent regulatory body with authority over digital asset markets, exchanges, and investment products.
Securities Exchange Act (as amended 2023)
Extends the CTF's anti-fraud and registration requirements to digital asset securities.
Investor Protection and Digital Asset Recovery Act (2025)
Establishes the CTF's asset recovery, distribution, and whistleblower programs.
